John Higgins was pushed all the way to the wire by last year's champion Ronnie O'Sullivan, but came out on top to win this year's SAGA Insurance Masters 10-9.

The Wizard of Wishaw, who lost 10-3 to the Rocket in last year's final, trailed 3-0 at the Wembley Conference Centre but reeled off five frames on the spin to lead 5-3 in the best-of-19 showdown.

O'Sullivan levelled the game early in the final session and then they matched each other until Higgins sneaked ahead 8-7 after 15 frames.

Both players had opportunities to win the sixteenth frame but O'Sullivan came out on top after both players missed black opportunities.

At 9-9 the tournament came down to a sudden death best of one and it was Higgins who held his nerve to take the title, for the last time being played at the Wembley venue.
