Defending champion Ronnie O'Sullivan exacted revenge on Peter Ebdon to book his place in the semi-finals of the SAGA Insurance Masters.

The Rocket, beaten 13-11 by Wellingborough's Ebdon in last year's World Championship quarter-finals, triumphed 6-2 at the Wembley Conference Centre to
keep his title challenge on track.

He now meets Stephen Lee in the last four, with their match due to be played on Saturday afternoon.

"I can't believe I've come through that match tonight," said O'Sullivan. "It was a big match and I can't believe I'm in the semis."

Breaks of 97, 77, 43 and 54 saw the world number one race into a 4-0 interval lead, with a whitewash widely predicted.

But battler Ebdon reduced his arrears by winning the first frame after the resumption, and then won the sixth frame, which fell just 39 seconds short of lasting an hour.

But O'Sullivan managed to win the next two frames required for victory.
