Steve Davis was back to his vintage best last night as he produced a stunning comeback to beat the defending champion Stephen Maguire 9-8 in the UK Championship in York.

Davis won five of the last six frames, including an impressive 145 break.

He now plays Dubliner Ken Doherty in the quarter-finals later today.

There were also wins for Joe Perry and Stephen Hendry, while world champion Shaun Murphy lost on the deciding frame to Australia's Neil Robertson.
