John Higgins needed only 85 minutes to beat Leicester's Tom Ford 5-1 at the Haidian Stadium and storm into the last 16 of the China Open.
The world number five from Wishaw could not have hoped for a better start as he immediately stung Ford with breaks of 113, 138, a total clearance, and 96 in racing 3-0 ahead.
It soon became 4-0 and although Ford avoided the whitewash by comfortably winning the fifth frame the former English junior champion soon succumbed.
Higgins, who ended three years without a world ranking title when he lifted the British Open trophy at Brighton in November, crossed the line by potting pink and black to steal a scrappy sixth frame.
