Steve Davis booked his place in the quarter-finals of the Riley's Club Masters with a dramatic 6-5 victory over defending champion Paul Hunter.
Hunter has now won only one of his last nine matches since reaching the totesport Grand Prix semi-finals last October.
Davis opened the match with breaks of 70 and 81 to take a 2-0 lead before Hunter fought back in the third, fifth and sixth frames.
Davis went on to make it 5-4 in his favour after a tight seventh frame, Hunter then drew level with a 54 break, before Davis settled matters with a 58 in the decider.
Meanwhile, Graeme Dott booked his third meeting of the campaign with world champion Ronnie O'Sullivan, after he defeated fellow Scot Stephen Maguire 6-4.
Dott trailed 2-1 as Maguire made a 101 break in frame three. However, runs of 92, 98 and 83 put him in command. Back came UK champion Maguire to tie the match at 4-4 before further half centuries took Dott through into round two.
"It is the best arena I have ever played in," said Maguire. "And it would have been fantastic to play Ronnie when it was jam-packed. But I will be back next year," added the provisional world number three.
