Kilkenny's David Morris made Irish Snooker history on Sunday becoming the youngest ever Irish Champion at only 15 years of age.
Morris defeated 2000 Champion Rodney Goggins from Wexford 8-4 in a superb final which saw the youngster win the last title available to him at national level after winning every underage title over the last three years.
Morris, who won the high break prize at the European Championships last week in Austria with a 139 break, also recorded the highest break at the Irish Championships, a superb 123.
The teenager went into a 4-2 lead in the first session with the of breaks of 76 and 79, but Goggins made it back to 4-4 just after the interval with a 109 break rounding of the eighth frame.
The first eight frames of the final were shared, Goggins making it 4-4 just after the interval. Morris took the next two frames with ease and a 98 break in frame 11 put him one frame from victory.
In a nervy last frame both players had chances, but Morris made the most of a good opportunity and finished off with a 56 break to win the title.
