White sees off challenge of Hendry at Wembley

'Whirlwind' Jimmy White held his nerve to claim his first Wembley win over Stephen Hendry  in seven attempts with a 6-4 triumph in the Masters.

A break of 54 gave the Englishman the first frame, but a lucky red set up Scot Hendry for a 97 break and he then won the next to go ahead.

White restored parity only for a 101 break to put Hendry in front, but a missed pink saw White make it 3-3 and he edged the seventh for a 4-3 lead.

Mistakes came as the pressure grew, but a break of 51 helped White clinch the vital frame.
