Doherty close to Embassy exit

Ireland's Ken Doherty is within two frames of an Embassy World Championships exit, as he trails Paul Hunter by 15-9 in their semi-final clash in the Crucible.

Doherty was 11-5 behind at the start of the evening session, and hinted at a revival when he took the first frame of the session by 92-0, however Hunter took the next frame starting a pattern that the rest of the night's play would follow.

Neither Doherty or Hunter were able to put back to back frames together as they matched each other stride for stride, meaning that Hunter needs to win just two frames in tomorrow's session to book his place in the final.

Meanwhile, tournament favourite Mark Williams also took a step closer to the final although his lead was cut to four frames by Stephen Lee. Williams is now is 10-6 ahead going into Saturday's play in the best-of-33 frames semi-finals.
