Ken Doherty is through to the quarter finals of the Scottish Open after defeating Quentin Hann 5-3 today. Doherty will meet Alan McManus who defeated Ronnie O'Sullivan 5-1 in their match.
O'Sullivan was looking to add the Regal Scottish Open crown to his European Open and Irish Masters titles. And while O'Sullivan failed to emulate the achievements of Steve Davis and Stephen Hendry as ranking title hat-trick winners he remained in upbeat mood.
"If it made me feel any better by smashing up my cue and driving down the motorway at 200 miles per hour then I would do it," said the world number one after a surprise 5-1 defeat. "But I've tried it that way and it doesn't make me play better snooker."
Also today England's Mark Selby overcame Welshman Matthew Stevens 5-2.
