Parrott looking good for Crucible qualification

John Parrott is looking good for his 20th consecutive appearance at the Crucible Theatre after recovering from a slow start against Finland's leading player at The Palace Hotel in Torquay today. The 38-year-old Liverpudlian employed all of his vast experience to build a 6-3 lead over Robin Hull in the final qualifying round of the Embassy World Championship. It meant that Parrott went into the concluding session of the match requiring only four more frames to secure a place in the 32-man final stages of the game's blue riband event.

Yesterday, Steve Davis, an ever present at the Crucible from 1979 to 2000, beat Ryan Day 10-8. The Welshman mounted a stirring comeback from 8-5 down, however, Davis recovered to secure his place in Sheffield for the first time in three years. “It’s great to be back,” Davis said. “It means a lot to be at the Crucible and I love being involved in the build-up to the tournament.”
