Matthew Stevens continued his good form to dump former World Champion John Higgins out of the Embassy World Championships in Sheffield. Stevens took a 10-6 advantage into their final session this morning and quickly wrapped up a 13-7 victory.
Stevens was delighted afterwards saying: "I was surprised because of the way John played against Graeme Dott, when he was superb. But I kept a lot of pressure on him, scored heavily and he missed a few balls. If you put pressure on an opponent they have got to miss and John missed a few balls to let me in. To beat anyone like John is unbelievable."
Elsewhere, Ronnie O'Sullivan is tied at 8-8 with fellow countryman Stephen Lee after this morning's session while this afternoon Ken Doherty resumes his match with Stephen Hendry and they are tied at 8-8. Also this afternoon Peter Ebdon resumes his match with Anthony Hamilton and leads by 6-2.
