Ken Doherty produced a thrilling fightback in his Embassy World Championship quarter-final with Stephen Hendry at the Crucible this evening to level the match at 8-8. Hendry had produced some superb snooker to win the first four frames of this evening's session, but the gritty Dubliner refused to buckle and dug deep to produce breaks of 120, 80 and 54 to set up a thrilling final session tomorrow.
In this evening's other match, Welshman Matthew Stevens took firm control of his match with John Higgins and takes a 10-6 lead into the closing session. Stevens put in a performance of solid break-building and has taken over from Stephen Hendry with the highest break of the tournament so far with a 12th frame clearance of 145.
In this afternoon's matches, Peter Ebdon eked out a 6-2 overnight lead over Anthony Hamilton, while Stephen Lee fought back from 4-1 down to level matters with defending champion Ronnie O'Sullivan.
