Seven-time champion Stephen Hendry has set up a quarter-final clash with Ireland's Ken Doherty after cruising to a 13-3 victory over Wales' Anthony Davies at the Embassy World Championship second round at the Crucible in Sheffield. Leading 6-2 overnight, Hendry lost the first frame of this evening's session before breaks of 81, 70 and 63 helped him to reel off seven frames on the trot to wrap proceedings up with a session to spare. In this evening's other match, Anthony Hamilton has taken a 9-7 lead in to tomorrow's final session against world number one Mark Williams.
Earlier today, John Higgins produced a devastating performance to lead fellow Scot Graeme Dott 8-0 in their second-round clash. After inflicting a 10-1 defeat on James Wattana in his first-round, Higgins carried on where he left off and blitzed Wattana with some vintage potting to move within five frames of a quarter-final place.
In this afternoon's other match, Stephen Lee looked in good shape as he opened up a 7-1 lead over Australian Quinten Hann.
