World number three John Higgins defeated four-times champion Steve Davis 5-3 in the Daily Star Premier League at the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea last night. Higgins began by clearing with 68 to the black in the first frame and compiled a break of 84 in the third to lead 2-1.
Davis, 44, who won the inaugural league event 15 years ago, made it 2-2 with a run of 61 but Higgins rattled off three frames in a row to secure the points.
