Dubliner Michael Judge has progressed to the second round of the UK Championship in York after a comprehensive 7-1 victory over Shokat Ali. Judge moved from a 3-1 lead to 6-1 with breaks of 78, 129 and 120 before coming from 57-1 down in the eighth to win on the black against the former Asian Games gold medallist.
Also through to the second round is John Parrott after a hard-fought 7-5 win over Bradley Jones while former young player of the year Ali Carter will meet world champion Ronnie O'Sullivan in the last 32 of the competition following his excellent 7-4 win over 1995 world finalist Nigel Bond.
