Wallace books Masters spot

Dungannon professional Patrick Wallace has received an early birthday present by claiming the final remaining place in this year's Regal Masters. Wallace, who celebrates his 32nd birthday on Sunday, secured his spot in the £200,000 event after defeating Scotland's Stephen Maguire 5-0 in the final of the qualifying tournament at Stirling.

Stephen Lee now awaits Wallace in the first round proper when Glasgow's Thistle Hotel plays host to the event between September 18-23.

"It's just great to be in amongst the big boys," said Wallace. "The one thing you are guaranteed at the Regal Masters is a quality entry, and I'm just delighted to have the chance to mix it with the likes of world champion Ronnie O'Sullivan, world number one Mark Williams and Stephen Hendry."
