Peter Ebdon has progressed to the semi-finals of the Champions Cup in Brighton after defeating the defending champion Ronnie O'Sullivan 5-1. The world number seven will now take on either John Higgins or Mark Williams for a place in Sunday's final as the final standings in Group B will not be determined until after tomorrow's matches.
However, Ebdon is just pleasantly surprised to have managed to make it to this stage of the competition. "When I lost my first match this week to Ken Doherty I didn't think I had any chance of getting to the semis," he said afterwards. "But Ken's victory over Ronnie presented a window of opportunity and I managed to take it," he added.
