Ken Doherty will meet John Higgins in the quarter-finals of the Embassy World Snooker Championships, following the Scot's 13-8 victory over Chris Small at The Crucible this afternoon. The second seed had been expected to finish off his second-round match against the qualifier overnight, needing only two frames to clinch victory.
But a spirited fightback by his fellow countryman saw Higgins stretched, before he eventually strung together some decent breaks to claim the first frame after the break to seal an unconvincing victory and a tie with Doherty in the last eight.
