Snooker: Scottish Open victory for Judge

Dubliner Michael Judge beat Dave Harold by 5 frames to 4 to reach the 3rd round of the £441,000 Regal Scottish Open today.

Meanwhile, Steve Davis followed fellow legend Jimmy White into the Aberdeen sunset as John Higgins brought the curtain down on the old maestro's season. Never has Davis' campaign ended so early - but failure to qualify for the final stages of the Embassy World Championship means the 43-year-old Essex star faces a longer-than-normal summer break.

And defeat for Davis in the £441,000 Regal Scottish Open means he also faces another campaign outside the elite top 16 world group. White, who also misses out on a trip to Sheffield later this month, lost to Stephen Maguire yesterday.

Higgins, one of the favourites for the Crucible, ensured there wasn't to be another upset on day three following the earlier victory for unknown David McDonnell against world number five Stephen Lee.
