Snooker: O'Sullivan wins Irish Masters

Ronnie O'Sullivan has won this year's Irish Masters title at Citywest after a thrilling 9-8 victory over Stephen Hendry. O'Sullivan had led 5-2 after the first session of play but when the match resumed tonight, Hendry was a different player. Hendry took the first frame after the break to make it 5-3 but O'Sullivan regained his advantage in the ninth frame. Hendry then won three frames in a row to level the match and the crowd in Citywest knew they had a real game on their hands.

O'Sullivan fought back with a break of 112 to make it 7-6 in his favour. However, Hendry levelled once again and then took the lead for the first time in the final but O'Sullivan took the final two frames and with it the 2001 Irish Masters title.
