Snooker: O'Brien dumped out of Regal Open

Dubliner Fergal O'Brien has been beaten by Stephen Lee at the Regal Welsh Open in Cardiff. Although O'Brien took a 2-0 lead and was looking good for a win, Lee fought back and eventually won 5-3 to reach the quarter-finals. There he will take on John Higgins, as the Scot overcame Peter Ebdon 5-3 also. There was some good news for the Irish though as Ken Doherty progressed to the third round after he beat Australian Quinten Hann by the same scoreline.

Also victorious in Cardiff this evening was Mark Williams, who defeated Mark King 5-1 with some ease. But it was a terrible night for Ronnie O'Sullivan as he managed to surrender a 2-0 overnight lead to Northern Ireland's Joe Swail. Swail won the first four frames of today's session before O'Sullivan rallied back but it was too little too late as Swail held his nerves in the eighth frame to take the tie and reach the next round.
