Ireland’s two remaining competitors in the World Amatuer Championships made their exit as the IBSF tournament reached the knockout stages in China today. Jason Watson, the Irish number one, was defeated by Stephen Maguire who produced a 124 in frame six en route to a 5-2 victory.
A win for Watson would have set up an all Irish clash with Northern Ireland's Sean O'Neill, who defeated Belgium's Alain De Cock. And there was also bad news for former world U-21 champion, Rodney Goggins, who lost in a tight affair to Joven Alba from the Phillipines. Northern Ireland's Barry McNamee is also on his way home following his defeat by China's Da Hai Lin.
