Mark Williams defeated Ronnie O Sullivan 9 - 5 in the final of the Telford Grand Prix last night. Williams, who was beaten in the same final last year ended the afternoon session 6-2 ahead of O'Sullivan.
O'Sullivan came out fighting in the evening session and took 3 frames in a row after Williams took the initial frame. Despite all the makings of a tense ending, Williams stood his ground and held the lead to take the title.
At the World Amateur Snooker championships in China, Rodney Goggins and Jason Watson are both safely through to the last 32, with the knock-out stages of the tournament due to begin later today.
