Snooker: Irish victorious in Home International series

After defeating their Northern Counterparts at the weekend, The Irish senior men's team continued their good form with victory over England in the Home International 2000 series at Prestatyn. Ireland's 10-8 victory brought England's two-year unbeaten run to an abrupt end, with 1999 World U-21 Champion, Rodney Goggins, registering a 72 break in the deciding frame against Micheal Gold, to hand his country a famous victory. The foundations for victory were laid early on with Jason Watson scoring heavily with breaks of 79, 81, and 115 to whitewash opponent Wayne Cooper. And although the English fought back, victories from Martin McCrudden and Robert Murphy were enough to carry the Irish through.
