Northern Ireland's former world snooker champion, Dennis Taylor, today retired from the sport. An early defeat in the Scottish Open brought an end to a hugely successful professional career, which spanned four decades. The hugely popular player, famed for his idiosyncratic taste in glasses, made his exit when he was defeated in the first-round 5-3 by Belgian professional, Patrick Delsemme. Taylor will be best remembered for his exciting World Championship win in 1985 after an epic battle with Steve Davis.
