Mark Williams handed Stephen Hendry a taste of his own medicine as he took a gigantic stride towards becoming the new world number one in Bangkok today. By rattling through the closing seven frames to beat Hendry 9-5, the Welshman did much more than collect a £44,000 first prize at the Thailand Masters and thrill the capacity crowd. Williams, who beat Alan McManus 9-7 in the final of last year's Thailand Masters, would be the first world number one from Wales since Ray Reardon back in the early 80s.
