Matthew Stevens blew Ronnie O'Sullivan off the table at the UK Championships at Bournmouth today. Stevens had seized a 5 frames to 3 advantage over O'Sullivan to put himself in the driving seat after the first session of their quarter-final and when it resumed today he took the next four straight frames to win comfortably.
Stephen Hendry moved a step closer to the capture of a sixth Championship title by defeating Dave Harold 9-5 last night. Hendry, made several sizeable breaks during a confident quarter-final performance. He recovered from 2-1 down to lead 5-2 by knocking in breaks of 96, 72, 116 and 92 during a purple patch of high-quality scoring. Hendry now meets the Welshman Mark Williams who beat fellow countryman Darren Morgan.
