Farrell content with Covid precautions following Adams breach

Andy Farrell says Ireland haven't asked the Welsh Rugby Union for extra assurance following the news that Josh Adams trained with the team after breaking Covid-19 safety regulations.

The winger has been suspended by Wales for Sunday’s Guinness Six Nations opener against Ireland in Cardiff and the match against Scotland next weekend.

Top try-scorer at the 2019 World Cup, Adams broke protocol by attending a family gathering while on a break from national camp last weekend.

Upon returning, he trained with the squad before his misdemeanor was reported.

Wales boss Wayne Pivac called it an "error of judgement".

However, Farrell said he believes the measures in place at the moment are sufficient and that the IRFU didn’t ask for any further assurance.

"All teams are getting tested twice a week so I suppose you can’t get more stringent than that," he told RTÉ Sport.

"It’s something that we spoke about when we first came into camp, it’s something that we’ve addressed again since because obviously we want to make sure that’s something that doesn’t happen within our group.

"Everyone is keeping a stringent eye on protocols, yeah, it’s something that we do pretty well and have done pretty well during the autumn as well."
