Rob Kearney will not feature in Ireland's final Six Nations clash with Scotland next Saturday as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.

Irish team manager Mick Kearney confirmed that his namesake will not be involved in training this week after feeling "tightness" in his leg after training at the Aviva Stadium following Saturday's comprehensive win over Italy.

Kearney said the decision to exclude the full-back from training is "prudent", adding that "hopefully he'll get back playing pretty soon".

The remainder of the weekly injury report was more positive, with the team manager confirming that all of the panel have come through the Italy clash relatively unscathed.

Three players - Robbie Henshaw, Andrew Trimble and Keith Earls - required stitches to their forehead, nose and lip respectively, but other than that the squad reported a clean bill of health.

Eoin Reddan and Cian Healy, who was a late withdrawal from the squad for the Italy game, are also continuing their rehab programmes with a view to train fully tomorrow.

Kearney also confirmed that prop David Kilcoyne and uncapped winger Andrew Conway have joined the squad ahead of Saturday's match, which will determine Ireland's final tournament standing.

Scotland recorded their first win against France in ten years yesterday, something which Kearney expects to give them "massive confidence" ahead of their visit to Dublin.

The Scots must deal with a six-day turnaround, but Kearney felt that may not be an issue for Vern Cotter's side, saying "it's always easier to recover after a good win than it is after a loss".

Six Nations Moments: Week 4

If Ireland beat Scotland and France lose out to England in Paris, Ireland will finish third in the table.

Given Ireland's tough start to the competition - welcoming Wales to Dublin before travelling to play France and England - Kearney feel this would be a "reasonable outcome".

Meanwhile, he said the number of Connacht players featuring for Ireland during the tournament is "testament to what Pat Lam has done" there.

"I imagine it was the first time that five Connacht players finished a Six Nations match together. I think it's just reward for the performances they’ve put in in the Pro12 throughout the season."
