Italy coach Nick Mallett has called uncapped Franco Sbaraglini to replace injured Fabio Ongaro for Saturday's RBS 6 Nations game against Scotland.

Ongaro sustained an injury in Wednesday's training session in Rome and the Italian Rugby Federation confirmed the player has been ruled out for this weekend's encounter at Murrayfield.

The Saracens hooker started in the Azzurri's defeats to England and Ireland, but had been dropped to the bench by Mallett for Saturday's game.

Benetton Treviso hooker Sbaraglini will take Ongaro's place on the bench.
