Ireland's Finn Lynch won his only race of the day as Tuesday's action at the ILCA European Championships in Croatia was curtailed by stormy conditions.

The Carlow man's performance means he is now seventh overall in the Men's Dinghy/ILCA 7 fleet at Kastela Bay ahead of Wednesday's Final Series.

Lynch's team-mate Ewan McMahon (Howth Yacht Club) is 14th after a fourth-place finish.

Meanwhile, his sister and fellow Howth YC member, Olympian Eve McMahon, secured 10th and 13th place finishes in her two races in the women's ILCA 6 on Tuesday, leaving her ninth overall and third in the Under-23 category going into the Gold Fleet races.

"It was a tricky day today with a lot of mixed conditions," McMahon said.

"In the first race I didn't get the start I wanted and had to fight back through the fleet to finish 10th. In the second race there were dark clouds building on the right-hand side, so I committed to that side of the course, but unfortunately the shift didn’t arrive in time for the top mark and I ended up mid-fleet again, which wasn’t ideal."

She added: "We’re into Gold Fleet tomorrow, so it will almost feel like a new event. I’m hoping to step it up from here and put together consistent top-five results over the rest of the championship."
