Annalise Murphy triumphed in Race Three of the 2020 ILCA Laser Radial Women's World Championship in Melbourne, Australia.

The 2016 Olympic silver medalist took first place ahead of France's Pernelle Michon and Maxime Jonker of the Netherlands in the Yellow Fleet race.

Fellow Irish participants Aisling Keller and Eve McMahon finished 32nd and 38th respectively in Race Three.

Meanwhile, Aoife Hopkins finished sixth in the Blue Group, with Netherlands' Marit Bouwmeester winning that race.

Strong winds in the area had an impact on the competition but Murphy made light of the challenge.

"The waves were awesome, everyone was having so much fun downwind. Upwind, not so much," she said.

The 30-year-old is currently ranked 136th in the latest Laser Radial standings from 29 January, with Keller 63rd after two and six events respectively.
