Crown Prince Frederik still leads

At the halfway stage of the Setanta Dragon European Championship at Kinsale HRH Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark continues to lead the 51-boat fleet thanks to a fourth place in Race 3. The fresh conditions marked a comeback of sorts for the Irish fleet who placed seven boats in the top 20 with a strong performance by Johnny Ross-Murphy in fifth and Andrew Craig in seventh bringing both back inside the top ten overall.

With the event discard looming, Prince Frederik faces a strong challenge from regular class front-runners including Fred Imhoff who is closing the gap from second place and Switzerland's Vincent Hoesch in third.

Tomorrow's forecast suggests fresh to strong winds for the south coast of Ireland presenting another challenge for the fleet. Today saw four attempts at starting - one postponement due to a wind-shift followed by two General recalls. Six boats were disqualified on the fourth start.
