Game One: Weekley and Holmes (USA) bt Westwood and Hansen (Eur) 2 & 1
Game Two : Curtis and Stricker (USA) halved with Garcia and Casey (Eur)
Game Three: Perry and Furyk (USA) lost to Poulter and McDowell (Eur) 1 up
Game Four: Mickelson and Mahan (USA) halved with Stenson and Karlsson (Eur)

Match score: USA 9 - 7 Europe.

00.17am, Game Four. Phew, what drama we saw there. A win and two halves for each side. This session was drawn so but Europe has closed the gap from yesterday by a point.

00.14am, Game Four: He makes it and the match of supreme quality is halved.

00.14am. Game Four: It's wide! Halved at best now for Europe. Not an easy shot with the pressure on.

00.12am, Game Four: Mahan's putt just tails off and he has made a four. Karlsson can win it here......

00.10am, Game Four: Mickelson has a tough putt for a five so it is Mahan v Karlsson now.

00.08am, Game Three: Graeme McDowell will no longer with known as 'McD'. Poulter just referred to him as 'G-Mac'.

00.06am, Game Four: Stenson goes for it with Karlsson in such a good position. It ends in the bunker so it will be up to Karlsson now.

00.05am, Game Four: Sensational from Karlsson. You can really see what if means to these teams now and the quality of the golf is getting better and better.

00.03am, Game Four: What scenes at the 18th. Now for the final pairing. Great second shot by Hunter Mahan. He has a chance of an eagle and soon the European team's joy could be over.

00.02am, Game Three: IT IS THERE!! He keeps his nerve and turns to the crowd with no expression on his face.....until he decides to let all the emotion out, roaring 'Come on' and embracing his partner McDowell.

00.01am, Game Three: Now it is on the Englishman's shoulder. One of the biggest shots of his career. Normally this shot would be no problem at but it this environment....

00.00am, Game Three: Here is Poulter and McDowell. Far from easy with the pressure that is on this. They decide McD will go first with much longer putt...that misses...now it is up to Poults.

11.58pm, Game Three: Direction is wrong and now Poulter will have a chance for the match.

11.58pm, Game Three: This to halve the match for Furyk. 11 feet from pin right on edge of green.

11.57pm, Game Four: But he misses! Back to Game Three

11.56pm, Game Four: Stenson's long birdie putt is only millimetres away. Can't believe it didn't drop. That happened to the American's twice already so I guess these things balance out. The Big Easy to give the US the lead.....

11.55pm, Game Three: Wonderful shot and he should make a four from that.

11.54pm, Game Three: Poulter's third shot is a chip aiming for the green.

11.52pm, Game Four: And his putt is just to the left. This could be a big the Europeans but back to Game Three on the 18th.

11.50pm, Game Four: Karlsson's chip touches the edge of the hole. Unlucky.

11.48pm, Game Four: Phew, so what now? Mickelson is on fire and a great approach at 17.

11.45pm, Game Two: It is in! Finally, he makes a putt when it matters. The match is drawn.

11.44pm, Game Two: The pressure on Casey now is monumental. He needs this to halve the match.

11.42pm, Game Two: Stricker makes the putt! Wild celebrations. Pure magic from Stricker.

11.41pm, Game Two: Garcia's long putt looks as if it has not enough pace but slowly it goes down the hill and end a couple of feet past the hole. Excellent shot.

11.40pm, Game Two: It is not too bad. Still a eight foot uphill putt but he couldn't have done much better in the circumstances.

11.39pm, Game Two: Stricker in the rough. This must be near the pin.

11.38pm, Game Two: A difficult putt for a five for a Curtis. Nick Faldo looks very stressed. The sunglasses may be a good idea Nick.

11.37pm, Game Two: Curtis is all sorts of trouble. He fails to make any decent contact in the extremly long rough and it looks as if it will be up to Stricker to stop Casey.

11.37pm, Game Two: Here is Casey at the 18th. It is pretty good, a bit more pace and it would have been spectacular.

11.36pm, Game Three: Furyk keeps his cool and this game is going down to the final hole as well.

11.34pm, Game Three: Poulter holes a great putt and some of the biggest cheers by the Europeans fans heard so far this weekend. Poults clenches the hand of his team mate with a determind look on his face. He really wants to see this out.

11.33pm, Game Two: Stricker goes wide and long as well.

11.32pm, Game Four: Hole halved at 16.

11.31pm, Game Two: Garcia's shot is on the green but it is a huge putt over a hill that awaits him. A two putt at least.

11.31pm, Game Two: Two poor shots. Casey will be happier to chip up but Curtis went way too long.

11.29pm, Game Four: Good putt from Mickelson and he should take a par.

11.27pm, Game Two: Stricker and Garcia are pretty close together of the fairway, whole Curtis and Casey are a bit hampered.

11.26, Game Four. Good chip by Karlsson as he reaches the green.

11.20pm, Overview. There is so much going on. The Europeans tee off on 18 with Casey in the bunker. Mickelson's latest approach shot leaves a difficult two-putt. Stricker drives magnificently and Game Three is just reaching the green.

11.14pm, Game Two: But they don't take it. What a chance. This is nerve-racking. Par five to decide this match.

11.14pm, Game Two: Casey also misses and now the Americans have a big opportunity to take the lead.

11.15pm, Game Three: McDowell recovers from the bunker to get back on the green and produces yet another fantastic putt to halve the hole.

11.14pm, Game Two: Garcia's long birdie putt lacks pace.

11.10pm, Game Three: Perry also misses a chance to take it. Looks like a halve.

11.10pm, Game Three: Furyk is so close to taking the 16th but it is just wide.

11.08pm, Game Four: Stenson birdies at 15. But Mahan does likewise and the hole is shared.

11.04pm, Overview: You can tell there will be so much drama in the next hour. Casey and Curtis look set to decide the 17th hole. Poulter will have to be strong on 16 with McDowell in the bunker.

11.01pm Game Three: I think I jinxed Graeme there. Deep in the bunker on the 16th now.

10.57pm, Game Two: Then Sergio holes a great putt to halve the hole. It is frenetic here. Several Irish men dressed as Leprauchans and singing 'Ole, Ole, Ole' after that shot.

10.55pm, Game Two. Ouch. Monsterous putt from is heading right for the middle of the hole and then just comes up short. That would have won the hole.

10.54pm, Game Four: Mickelson makes a long putt to halve the 14th. It is extremely tense now.

10.52pm, Game Three: He is the star of the show. Graeme McDowell is taking some of the limelight from Padraig Harrington with a superb showing today. Hole halved.

10.47pm, Game Three: Pure class from Furyl. His approach at 15 comes up just short of the hole and he will make a three. McDowell's was nearly as good but it is still difficult.

10.44pm, Overview: There were huge celebrations from the USA players. That was a big win. It adds to the pressure of the Europeans now.

10.42pm, Game One: Westwood's putt clips the cup and misses. USA win Game One.

10.41pm, Game One: Hanson misses. It's up to Westwood.

10.40pm, Game One: Holmes misses his birdie putt to win the match. Westwood or Hanson can make it go down to the final hole....

10.39pm, Game Four: He misses and it is all square!

10.36pm, Game Four: The Scandanavians are really coming into form now and the pressure is on Mahan to halve the hole with this putt.

10.33pm, Game Three: McDowell misses a long putt by inches and the Americans take the 14th hole. Worrying times.

10.27pm, Overview: Putting is the downfall of the Europeans again and the US are finding their form. It doesn't bode well.

10.25pm, Game Three: Possible shot of the competition by Perry. Off the tee, a matter of feet from the pin. They will more than likely cut the lead of Poulter and McDowell.

10.23pm, Game One: USA guaranteed at least a half as Europe can only halve the 16th. USA are two ahead with two to play.

10.22pm, Game Three: McDowell secures a half at 13.

10.21pm, Game One: Holmes is millimetres away from the hole. Very unlucky.

10.19pm, RTÉ's Greg Allen gives his view:

'You get the sense here that Europe need to get out of this fourball session with an even break of the points which would leave them 9-7 behind entering the singles.

'That was the margin of Europe's deficit at Oak Hill in 1995 when they came back to win on the final day of singles - a victory which heralded a dominant stretch of five European victories in the last six Ryder Cups.'

10.15pm, Game One: Weekley finds the bunker so Holmes is cautious in his approach at 16.

10.12pm, Game Two: 14th hole is halved. Still all-square. How do you think the match will end? sportonline@rte.ie

10.05pm, Overview: If things remain the same USA will take a three point lead into the final day. But there is a long way to go. Weekley and Holmes look to be on their way to victory, while Game Two is impossible to call. Poulter and McDowell would be looking to hold out. Still eight holes to be played in Game four but Mickelson is looking unbeatable in this form.

9.58pm, Game Two: Sergio hits back though. Chants of USA rings out in defiance. This match will have an exciting ending.

9.57pm, Game Two: For about a minute. Stricker makes his unlikley birdie putt and now they could be the ones about to take the lead.

9.55pm, Game Two: Great putt by Curtis, clips the cup and stays out. Lucky escape for Europe.

9.50pm, Game Two: Sensational approach from Casey. This match has been level for most of 12 holes so far. That may change soon.

9.47pm, Game One: The arrogant Weekley almost justifies his behaviour with a monserous putt off the green to restore their two hole lead. That's a massive blow for Westwood and Hansen.

9.45pm, Game Three: Lovely putt by McDowell. Should guaranteed the 11th will be halved at best for Europe.

9.40pm, Game Two: Stricker makes a relativley easy shot at 12 to keep the match at all square.

9.37pm, Game One: Weekley's best shot for a while. Just off the green at 14 after a huge shot.

9.33pm, Group Three: He makes it! Europe are back in this match. It's anyones guess as to what the final score be come the end of the day.

9.31pm, Group One: Weekley misses his putt and Hansen has a shot to cut the Americans lead to one. Exciting stuff and you can tell there is more than just a point available in this match.

9.29pm, Group Three: Pressure of Poulter now after some excellent play by the Americans. But he keeps his cool and the hole is halved. He has really justified his selection.

9.26pm, Group One: Hansen and Holmes produce some great approaches at 13.

9.24pm, Group Four: And a brilliant putt to save a hole that looked certain to go to Americans.

9.19pm, Group Four: Superb approach to the ninth green by Karlsson. The momentum is with Europe now, can they make it count?

9.11pm, Game One: Poor shot from Weekley, and that is not being harsh. He comes up very short and the crowd went very quiet there.

9.06pm, Game Three: The tide is turning as Poulter and McDowell go two up.

9.04pm, Game Two: But it proves to be good enough it is all level in this match now.

9.02pm, Game Two: Superb shots being played off the green by the Americans. Garcia chips from the rough and is about one inch short. Very frustrating for the Spaniard.

8.55pm, Game One: Hansen hits back for Europe. Reduces the defecit to two.

8.50pm, Game Four: Majestic from Mickelson. Superb eagle, curving his putt in. Two up.

8.50pm, Game Three: But McDowell makes sure they halve the hole.

8.49pm, Game Three: Furyk birdies at the eighth.

8.43pm. Game One: Westwood misses his birdie putt at the 10th. He concedes the hole because Weekley in on an eagle from only a number of feet and the US go three up.

8.40pm, Game Four: Mickelson is on fire now. Another brilliant approach at seven. Mahan is playing second fiddle to him.

8.38pm, Game Three: At long last, Europe win a hole. Perry and Furyk pay for poor shots at the seventh and Poulter wraps up the hole. Europe are ahead in that match.

8.30pm, Game Two: Curtis nicely on the green at nine, as is Stricker.

8.30pm, Game Three: Huge error by Perry. He goes from the rough off the greeen straight into the bunker.

8.24pm, Game One: Holmes misses his birdie putt but so does Hansen. Europe are not taking their chances.

8.22pm, Game Two: Stricker hits back with a similar monster putt and forget what I said a minute ago. That hurts. Hole halved.

8.21pm, Game Two: Garcia produces a fantastic putt and yells with delight. A reluctant applause from the crowd. It doesn't guarantee the hole but a huge boost for Europe.

8.15pm, Game One: Great shots from Mickelson and he's on the green. But Hansen strikes back. Westwood's shot rolls off the green so it will be up to Hansen and his four foot putt.

8.11pm, Game Three. Magnificent putt from McD on the sixth that could keep that match even.

8.09pm, Game Two: Casey has a chance to level the match. So close! Only a four. USA should halve the hole now.

8.06pm, Game One: Weekley and Westwood produces good putts and the hole will be halved unless Holmes can do something special again. He can't, they stay at two ahead.

8.04pm, Game Four: Fifth hole is halved. Mickelson is the most impressive out of that match so far.

8.01pm, Game Two: Great approach by Casey. Clench of the fist. Europe needed a boost.

7.57pm, Game One: Westwood misses and Europe are in real trouble here. Weekley has the crowd buzzing.

7.55pm, Game One: Fantastic putt by Holmes. Westwood needs to hole or they will go two up.

7.52pm, Game Three: Kenny Perry misses a chance to win hole four.

7.50pm, Game One: Good shot by Holmes and he is one the green. Probably a two putt now. Hansen isn't making progress and this could well be another halved hole.

7.47pm, Game Two: USA halve the hole with a decent putt and they remain one up.

7.44pm, Game One: Poor shots by the Americans. Holmes hits the crowd, while Weekley is in deep rough. Good chance here for Europe.

7.42pm, Game One: Every player nicely postioned on the fairway at hole seven.

7.40pm: So what did you make of Nick Faldo's pairings. Was he right to drop Harrington? Let us know at sportonline@rte.ie

7.37pm: Great shot by Furyk at hole five in match three. 'Get down' he says, in a determind yet hopeful tone, he should be happy with the 20 foot putt that awaits him on the green.

7.35pm: Weekley makes the putt and goes one up in match one. Huge cheers from the crowds and plays up to it. Europe have a huge battle on their hands in the next few hours.

7.33pm: Hansen misses his par putt and Weekley is up next. This is for the hole.

7.30pm: Good putt from Westwood. That will be a decent two putt if he makes it but it is far from guaranteed. All to play for at this hole.

7.28pm: Furyk and Weekley misses chances to win holes in matches three and one respectivley.

7.27pm: Hansen's bunker shot at six is decent but he will struggle to make a par. McDowell will par at four.

7.25pm: So Mickelson gives his side the lead. Europe are struggling a bit now.

7.23pm: Garcia produces a fine chip shot at five. He should putt from there. Hasen in the bunker at the sixth. I said there was nothing spectacular at the moment but Mickelson putt at three off the green was quite brilliant. This will be a real battle this evening.

7.20pm: Nothing spectacular in any of the matches so far and it is very even.

7.17pm Garcia in a pretty similar position.

7.15pm: Casey at the approach for hole five. Short of the green.

7:13pm: Mahan birdies the second with an excellent seven-footer to even up the final game.

7:09pm Weekley misses an excellent chance to give the US the lead in the first match. Soren Hansen takes advanatge to keep the game all square.

7:06pm: Curtis caresses the lip with his birdie effort. Stricker saves par. Casey nails his effort to halve the hole.

7:03pm Casey plays a lovely bunker shot to within a couple of feet of the hole on the fourth.

7.00pm: Perry wins the second hole with an excellent putt.

6.57pm: McDowell misses a birdie chance after getting a soft bounce with a brilliant approach.

6.53pm: Birdie, Europe go one up in match four.

6.52pm: Good start of Stenson and Karlsson in the final match. Mickelson does nothing and they have a chance to take an early lead.

6.50pm Garcia's birdie putt is slightly wide and he will almost certainly make par. Weekley to win the hole for USA in game one....misses. Remains all square.

6.48pm. Hansen has a good chance for a birdie at the fourth but it's narrowly wide. Chants of 'Booooo' ring around...Weekley is next up in game one.

6.46pm: Garcia has a birdie chance at the third hole. Curtis has a putt too for a birdei but it was very difficult. Five feet from the pin is not a bad result for the American. He should make par.

6.44pm: Poulter strikes early in the first hole in match three. He putts from 15 feet to go one up.

6.38pm: First blood to US and Curtis putts from 12 feet to see the US go one up in match two.

6.36pm: Westwood tees off at four. In the short rough. Stricker is struggling at the second green in match two.

6.34pm: Every hole has been halved so far with a lot of missed putts from distance meaning pars all around. Garcia is the latest to miss for a birdie, remains to be seen if he and Casey will pay the price for it.

6.33pm: Good start for Furyk. He is on the green in reg at the first as game three is underway.

6.31pm: Weekley on the green at the third in game one. His putt slides past the hole.

6.28pm: Their match is game three as they face Kenny Perry and Jim Furyk. Graeme McDowell was also in brilliant form today.

RTÉ's Gary Moran on the epic match McDowell was involved in.

'Graeme McDowell played brilliantly all morning and it was only justice that he got half a point as ne nailed a four-footer on the last for the birdie that levelled his match with Jimenez against Leonard and Mahan.'

6.25pm: Ian Poulter begins to sing along with chants of 'there is only one Ian Poulter' as he gets to tee off with Graeme McDowell. Some of the pressure is off Poulter after his performance earlier today.

6.22pm: A tentative start to this crucial session. It remains level in the first match after two holes as Weekley misses a birdie chance by a fair distance.

6.20pm: Sergio off the second tee, just about finds the fairway.

6.18pm: Garcia produces a magnificent long putt on the first but it is inches away. Par all round so the second match is also all square after the first.

6.15pm: All square after the hole one in the first match.

6.07pm: Curtis and Stricker have started well on the first hole.

6.02pm: The first pairings are teeing off with some very controversial picks by both captains.
