Ulster came from behind with 33 unanswered points to claim a 40-19 United Rugby Championship win over Edinburgh in a pulsating clash at Hive Stadium.

Ulster winger Zac Ward was shown yellow just two minutes into the match and Edinburgh quickly capitalised when Ross Thompson broke through the visiting defence to ground before subsequently converting.

Charlie Irvine replied for the hosts by powering over the line and Jack Murphy added the extras to level, but Edinburgh restored their lead through Harry Paterson, who finished a quick switch of play towards the right and Thompson converted.

Juarno Augustus had a try disallowed and the hosts soon had their third when Wes Goosen crossed in the corner to make it 19-7 and although Ulster responded just before the break after Augustus charged down the pitch to ground, with Murphy converting, Edinburgh still held a five-point lead at half-time.

Harry Sheridan was sin-binned for a high tackle shortly after the restart but the visitors levelled when Jack Flannery crossed in the corner. Despite Sheridan's yellow being upgraded to red, they secured the bonus point when Scott Wilson reached over the line to ground with Murphy converting.

Edinburgh plunged into trouble when Harri Morris also had a yellow card upgraded to red and Ulster finished strongly as Conor McKee and Ben Carson crossed, with Murphy converting both.
