Munster have been dealt a big blow for their Investec Champions Cup Pool 2 opener against Bath on Saturday, with Jack Crowley ruled out due to a leg injury.

The out-half picked up the knock during last weekend's United Rugby Championship defeat to the Stormers, with JJ Hanrahan replacing the Ireland international at 10 this weekend.

New signing Michael Ala'alatoa is in line for his Munster debut off the bench. The former Leinster tighthead is named among the replacements, having joined from Clermont Auvergne until the end of the season.

Head coach Clayton McMillan has made five changes to his side from last week's defeat, which was Munster's first of the season.

Hanrahan comes in to partner Craig Casey in the half-backs, one of two backline swaps.

Summer signing Dan Kelly starts ahead of Alex Nankivell at inside centre, partnering Ireland international Tom Farrell in midfield.

The back three is unchanged, with Shane Daly at full-back and Thaakir Abrahams and Diarmuid Kilgallen on the wings.

Up front, Michael Milne tags in at loosehead, as Jeremy Loughman moves to the bench, with Diarmuid Barron and John Ryan continuing in the front row.

Jean Kleyn returns from international duty to start at lock alongside Tom Ahern, with Fineen Wycherley missing out.

The other change comes at openside flanker, where Jack O'Donoghue misses out due to concussion, with John Hodnett taking his place, joining captain Tadhg Beirne and Gavin Coombes at the back of the scrum.

McMillan has also gone with a 6:2 split on the bench, with Lee Barron, Loughman and Ala'alatoa covering the front row, and Edwin Edogbo, Ruadhán Quinn and Alex Kendellen also involvèd, while Ethan Coughlan and Nankivell are the backline replacements.
