Munster suffered their first defeat of the season at Thomond Park on Saturday as the Stormers staged a stunning comeback from a 14-point half-time deficit to claim their sixth win in six games.
The visitors, who arrived with an unbeaten record like Munster, endured an early setback just three minutes in when second-row Connor Evans was shown a yellow card for deliberate obstruction.
Captain Tadhg Beirne gave Munster the perfect start, crossing after a clever dummy that wrong-footed the Stormers' defence. Further tries from John Hodnett and Jack Crowley followed, putting the hosts seemingly in cruise control with a 21-7 lead at the break.
But the Stormers roared back in the second half, using fresh legs from the bench to dominate the scrum and force Munster errors. Undeterred by the cold Limerick conditions, the South Africans struck twice without reply, with Dylan Maart and Ruhan Nel going over after an earlier effort was ruled out for infringement.
As Munster pushed for a reply, Stormers held firm to complete a remarkable turnaround and maintain their perfect start to the season.
