The shortlists for the Guinness Rugby Writers of Ireland awards have been announced with the British and Irish Lions and Ireland's Women’s rugby team among those nominated.
Munster’s Tadhg Beirne, Leinster quartet Andrew Porter, Dan Sheehan, Jack Conan, and Jamison Gibson-Park headline the shortlist for the Men’s XV Player of the Year award.
Linda Djougang, Erin King, Aoife Wafer, last season's winner, Brittany Hogan, and Aoife Dalton are nominated for the Women’s XV Player of the Year, following another season of impressive performances.
Nominated for Ireland Men’s Sevens Player of the Year are Niall Comerford, Dylan O'Grady, and Mark Roche, recognised for their unwavering commitment during the programme's final season.
Vying for the Women’s Sevens Player of the Year title are Lucinda Kinghan, Hannah Clarke, and Kate Farrell-McCabe, whose individual efforts continued to drive competitive performances.
The Dave Guiney Team of the Year nominees are URC winners Leinster, the Ireland Women’s XV, who reached the World Cup quarter-final, and the British and Irish Lions, who won their Test series in Australia.
The winners will be named on 11 November.
