Ireland out-half rivals Sam Prendergast and Jack Crowley will face off in Saturday's Leinster v Munster BKT URC clash at Croke Park (5.15pm).
The pair have never played against each other and square off just two weeks ahead of Ireland’s Test against New Zealand in Chicago.
The match-up is seen as something of a mini trial between the duo, who between them have started the last 16 Ireland internationals.
Prendergast starts as one of seven changes made to the Leinster team that beat Sharks for their first victory of the season last weekend.
There are first starts of the season for four British and Irish Lions and RG Snyman.
Jack Conan, who started all three Tests in Australia, James Ryan and scrum-half Jamison Gibson-Park all make their seasonal debuts, with two more Lions, Dan Sheehan and Andrew Porter primed for action off the bench.
Paddy McCarthy, fresh from his call-up to the Ireland squad, is named in a front row that Rónan Kelleher and Tadhg Furlong, with Ryan and Snyman the starting locks.
Conan captains the side from number 8, with Alex Soroka and Josh van der Flier retaining their places from last week.
Gibson-Park and Prendergast will form the half-back pairing, with Robbie Henshaw shifting across to inside centre with Garry Ringrose joining him in midfield for the first time this season.
Tommy O’Brien comes back into the team to earn his 50th Leinster cap with James Lowe continuing on the left wing and Jamie Osborne named at full-back for the second week in a row.
Meanwhile, for the second week running there are 10 changes to the Munster side, with captain Tadhg Beirne (above) among the personnel switches from the side that beat Edinburgh on Friday.
Beirne starts in the back row on his first appearance of the season after winning the Player of the Series award for the British and Irish Lions in the summer.
He becomes the 36th player to feature for the province so far this season.
Edwin Edogbo makes his first start since December 2023 after a successful return from injury as a replacement against Edinburgh.
Shane Daly, Thaakir Abrahams, Dan Kelly, Jack Crowley and Ethan Coughlan all come into the backline.
Along with Beirne and Edogbo, John Ryan, Jack O’Donoghue and Brian Gleeson join the pack.
Daly, Andrew Smith and Abrahams start in the back three with Kelly and last week’s Player of the Match Tom Farrell in midfield.
Coughlan and Crowley pair up in the half-backs.
Two-try Michael Milne keeps his place at loosehead along with hooker Diarmuid Barron as Ryan completes the front row.
Edogbo and Fineen Wycherley start together in the second row with Wycherley making his fourth successive start.
Beirne, O’Donoghue and Gleeson form the back row.
Lee Barron, Jeremy Loughman and Academy prop Ronan Foxe provide the front row back-up with Jean Kleyn and Gavin Coombes completing the forward cover.
Paddy Patterson, JJ Hanrahan and Alex Nankivell are the backline replacements.
Craig Casey is due to return in "one to two weeks" from a hamstring injury. The scrum-half was included in Andy Farrell’s Ireland squad named yesterday for the November internationals.
Oli Jager (HIA), Mike Haley (HIA), Calvin Nash (shoulder), Tom Ahern (HIA), Craig Casey (hamstring), Niall Scannell (hand laceration), Alex Kendellen (ankle), Conor Bartley (hamstring) were not considered due to injury.
