Caelan Doris is on track to make his return for Ireland next month after being included in Andy Farrell's 34-man squad for their meeting with the All Blacks in Chicago, as well as the Quilter Autumn Nations Series games.

The Ireland captain hasn't played since injuring his shoulder in Leinster's Heineken Champions Cup semi-final against Northampton Saints in May, an injury which saw him miss out on selection for the British and Irish Lions tour of Australia.

Doris will skipper the group, which is due to travel to Chicago next Tuesday, 21 October, for an extended camp before their meeting with the All Blacks at Soldier Field on Saturday, 1 November.

Farrell, who returns to the Irish job after his sabbatical with the Lions, has included one uncapped player in his squad, with Leinster's Paddy McCarthy drafted in.

McCarthy (below) was part of Ireland's squad for their summer tour of Georgia and Portugal, but didn't earn a cap under Paul O'Connell. The loosehead prop has featured in all three games for Leinster so far this season, and gets the nod ahead of Munster's Michael Milne.

The 22-year-old's older brother Joe looks set to miss out as he continues his recovery from a foot injury picked up on Lions duty, while Hugo Keenan, Calvin Nash and Cormac Izuchukwu have also been ruled out due to injury.

In addition to the 34-man squad, Connacht wing Shayne Bolton and Munster pair Brian Gleeson and Edwin Edogbo will both travel to Chicago with the group as cover.

Bolton made his debut in July in Ireland's big win against Portugal, while Gleeson and Edogbo will get their first taste of a senior Irish camp. Gleeson has made an impressive start to the season in Munster's back row, while Edogbo has recently returned from a 22-month injury layoff.

Iain Henderson and Robbie Henshaw are among those who have come back into the squad after missing the summer tour, while Munster forward Tom Ahern and Leinster wing Tommy O'Brien are the only summer debutants who have been retained in the full squad.
