Past away day feats will galvanise Glasgow Warriors, warns Leinster attack coach Tyler Bleyendaal

Leinster attack coach Tyler Bleyendaal says the province will have to be especially wary of a Glasgow Warriors side with a penchant for big away day performances when the two sides clash in an Investec Champions Cup quarter-final at Aviva Stadium on Friday.

Leinster advanced to the last-eight after a comprehensive win over Harlequins last weekend, while BKT United Rugby Championship rivals Glasgow overcame Leicester Tigers on their own Scotstoun patch.

With Leinster having home advantage, it poses a challenge for their Scottish opponents. But Glasgow are no strangers to success on the road, having won last season's URC title after away wins over Munster and the Bulls in the semi-finals and final respectively.

Speaking to RTÉ Sport's Michael Corcoran, it was a factor that Bleyendaal readily offered as a warning shot towards his own side.

"They're obviously a familiar challenge but they've got their own personality around their team and I think they're performing really well at the moment, both sides of the ball," the New Zealander said of Glasgow.

"They're scoring tries and they're defending well so we're under no illusions it's going to be a great challenge and we're going to have to raise the bar with our performance.

"Last year they did exceptionally well to win the title and have to go the away route to do it, so I think that will probably galvanise them and give them belief and that's why it's going to be a cracking match with two good sides."

Leinster go into Friday's encounter off the back of putting 62 points past Harlequins without reply.

However, despite running in ten tries and seeing both their attack and defence click into gear as proceedings went on, Bleyendaal feels Leinster still have room for improvement.

"It's a really pleasing performance but I think you're never quite satisfied," he said.

"The players and the management can be critical of themselves first and foremost which is a great thing and then we just keep driving our game forward."

He added: "We want to keep nailing down our setpiece attack, we want to make good decisions with the ball in hand, try to reduce our errors and then defence, we obviously conceded zero but I think we were under pressure a lot earlier in the match just through a few errors and maybe not competing as much as we'd like, so there's still a few things we want to improve on and then do it for the 80 minutes."
