Richard Wigglesworth is set to be named among the British and Irish Lions coaching staff for this summer's Australia tour, according to reports.

England's senior assistant coach would join a group also likely to include current Ireland interim head coach Simon Easterby.

Lions head coach Andy Farrell is due to confirm his coaching team on Wednesday.

The latest appointments will follow confirmed roles within the Lions set-up for Ireland's strength and conditioning coach Aled Walters and ex-Ireland performance director David Nucifora.

Former England scrum-half Wigglesworth, 41, succeeded current England head coach Steve Borthwick as Leicester boss in 2022.

He then linked up with Borthwick's England coaching team the following summer, and became senior assistant coach in October 2024.

Borthwick was part of Warren Gatland's Lions coaching team in New Zealand eight years ago.

Speaking immediately after England's 68-14 victory over Wales on 15 March that secured second place in the Guinness Six Nations, Borthwick said: "The Lions experience I had in 2017 was one of the best, if not the best, experience I've had in my life.

"Working with the best players from four different countries, working with incredible coaches against top-class opposition.

"It was brilliant for me and accelerated my coaching. I would love them (England coaches) to have the opportunity."
