The Guinness Six Nations is set to remain on free-to-air TV in Ireland until 2029 at least, with RTÉ and Virgin Media Television close to agreeing a new broadcast deal with tournament organisers.
A new four-year rights package is expected to be confirmed, which would see the broadcasters share coverage of the championship, as they have since 2022.
The deal will ensure all 15 games of the championship will be available to view live on free-to-air television, while the Women's Six Nations and U20 Six Nations also included in the package, with a total of 45 games available to watch across the three competitions.
Details of the agreement are yet to be confirmed, but it's believed the broadcasters and Six Nations Rugby are close to concluding negotiations
Earlier on Friday, Six Nations Rugby confirmed a similar free-to-air deal between BBC and ITV for the next four years, despite speculation in January that TNT Sports were considering bidding for the rights.
