Connacht have been boosted ahead of Saturday's BKT URC clash with Cardiff by the return of a number of Ireland internationals and injured players.

Hugh Gavin (ankle), Andrew Smith (thumb), Denis Buckley (thigh), Darragh Murray (Achilles) and Shane Jennings (ankle) are all available for Pete Wilkins following injury lay-offs.

Additionally, Ireland Six Nations squad members Jack Aungier, Caolin Blade, Shayne Bolton, Cathal Forde, Ben Murphy and captain Cian Prendergast are available for selection for the Westerners, who sit 14th in the table.

Finlay Bealham, Bundee Aki and Mack Hansen remain with Simon Easterby’s squad as they prepare for the trip to Wales on 22 February.

Meanwhile, Sean O’Brien has undergone hamstring surgery and will be out for three months, while Eoin de Buitlear suffered a thumb fracture during an Energia AIL game at the weekend and a timeline on his return is to be determined.

The game kicks off at 7.35pm at Dexcom Stadium.
