Joey Carbery will leave Munster in the summer after six seasons, the province has announced.
Munster said that the Irish international out-half would "depart the province for a new playing opportunity outside of Ireland at the end of the current campaign".
The 28-year-old is due to return to action shortly having sustained a wrist injury against Benetton in October.
New Zealand-born Carbery moved to Ireland aged 11 and made his professional debut with Leinster before joining Munster in 2018.
He scored six tries in his first 15 games but subsequently suffered with ankle injuries, going on to make 56 appearances for the province and score 477 points in total.
A 37-cap Ireland international, the No 10 has earned 25 of those caps since joining Munster, the most recent of which came in November 2022.
He was Munster's top points scorer last season with 124 in 17 appearances but did not make the squad for the URC final triumph over Stormers.
Carbery said: "I want to say a massive thank you to Munster Rugby and the Munster fans for the last six seasons.
"I've loved every minute, through the good and bad days. Thomond Park and Musgrave Park will always be special places for me.
"I'm excited for a fresh start next season but motivated to give my best and end this season on a high."
Munster Head Coach Graham Rowntree said: "Joey has contributed a huge amount to Munster Rugby on and off the pitch since joining six years ago.
"A fantastic professional, he has been a pleasure to coach and is a hugely popular member of the squad.
"We will wish him and his family all the best when the time comes but there is still plenty of rugby to be played this season."
Munster also revealed today that lock Jean Kleyn will not play again this season.
The South African World Cup winner has an eye issue that has been slow to recover and was set to keep him out of action for the coming months, so has had surgery on an ongoing knee issue.
Kleyn, 30, recently signed a two-year contract extension with the club as it was confirmed that his injury-plagued compatriot RG Snyman will leave at the end of the season.
Alex Nankivell's (ankle) availability for Saturday's Investec Champions Cup clash against RC Toulon at Stade Felix Mayol will be determined later this week as will that of Oli Jager, Fineen Wycherley, Alex Nankivell, Niall Scannell (groin), Peter O’Mahony, Carbery and Patrick Campbell (shoulder).
Jack O’Donoghue’s need for surgery on a knee injury will be determined following a surgical consultation this week.
Mike Haley (hip) and Cian Hurley (ankle/achilles) will return to training in the coming weeks.
