Jacques Nienaber took his first Leinster training session this afternoon and was welcomed to the club with a slab of beer.
The double World Cup-winning coach stepped away from the Springboks after their Webb Ellis success in France to take up the position of 'senior coach' at the four-time European champions.
The 51-year-oldr had a number of obligations to the South African Rugby Union, including a trophy tour, following the tournament but landed in Dublin in the last couple of days and took the squad through their paces at UCD on Monday afternoon.
"He has turned up this morning, very unassuming really," scrum coach Robin McBryde told RTÉ Sport.
"There was no big fanfare. He was left a slab of Guinness on his desk as a 'welcome to Ireland'.
"It was pretty low key.
"Just a round of applause when he was introduced to the squad.
"He has pretty much hit the ground running, he has obviously done his homework with regards to the language that we use here at Leinster.
"So he has been able to get into the rugby straight away, really around the training field. He wasn't on the touchline very long, he was on the training field and hitting the ground running."
The former Munster coach arrives in the middle of two interpros with Leinster on the back of a victory over Munster at the Aviva Stadium and a date in Galway against Connacht on Saturday evening.
"There were elements of our game that we weren't too happy about at the weekend," said the former Wales hooker ahead of the clash with Pete Wilkins' men who lost 53-27 to the Bulls in round six.
"[With] the reintegration of all the Irish players on their return from the World Cup and rightly so they all had a break, it was always going to be a tricky period, reintegrating them to the group of good young academy players who got their opportunity and whose development has been accelerated by having exposure so early.
"So you don't want that to diminish, you don't want that to regress at all. By the same token you need to give the returning internationals their opportunity to show what they can do as well.
"Performance-wise, there were things we need to work on, to improve on, whether that's a lack of cohesion, who knows?
"We've got a big game on the weekend against Connacht, who are a cohesive bunch.
"They've shown already this season how tough they are.
"Great result against the Sharks away so we're going to have to make sure we get that clarity in place and we're all on the same page heading over to Connacht at the weekend."
