French air traffic controllers' main union SNCTA on Tuesday called for strike action on 15 September, two days before Ireland take on Tonga in Nantes.
"As strong inflation continues and is worse than in 2022 ... SNCTA cannot accept that the work of air traffic controllers is devalued year after year," the union said in a statement.
It said that following months of talks with the DGAC civil aviation authority, it was calling for a strike on 15 September and invited other unions to join.
The World Cup runs from 8 September to 28 October, with the final in the Stade de France stadium in Saint Denis, Paris.
Ireland's campaign begins on 9 September against Romania in Bordeaux before they face Tonga a week later in Nantes.
