Ireland's semi-final at the European Games Sevens tournament in Krakow has been delayed by an hour after bad weather caused a bizarre stoppage to proceedings at the Henryk Reyman Stadium.

Play was stopped during the first women's semi-final between Great Britain and Belgium when extreme wind caused a tarpaulin behind one of the goals to become tangled up on the posts.

The disruption caused a one-hour delay at the ground, as workers untangled the tarpaulin and fixed the goalposts.

The Irish men's side will now kick-off their semi-final against Portugal at 2.03pm (Irish time), with the final scheduled for 8.35pm should Ireland advance.

James Topping's side know they can secure qualification for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris by winning the tournament.
