Ireland back Enya Breen has been ruled out of the rest of the TikTok Women's Six Nations with a knee injury.

The Munster woman won her 17th cap in the 31-5 defeat to Wales on Saturday but suffered an injury that will keep her out of the remainder of the tournament.

"Breen sustained a knee injury during the opening round of the Championship in Cardiff last weekend and after medical assessments this week, has today undergone a procedure that will keep her sidelined for Ireland's remaining matches," said the IRFU.

It's a big blow for Greg McWilliams' side ahead of Saturday's clash with France in Cork.

The 23-year-old has been one of Ireland's consistent performers in a backline that is already missing the sevens players who are in action in Hong Kong.

Backs Leah Tarpey and Kayla Waldron, who were part of Ireland's extended Six Nations squad, are also unavailable for selection this week through injury but Anna McGann has been called up to the squad.

Meanwhile, out-half Dannah O'Brien, who came on as a replacement in Cardiff for her third cap, says it’s important that the team put the disappointment against the Welsh to one side.

The 19-year-old said: "We just had to be at peace with that, leave it behind us get up and get ready for training.

"There’s no point in wasting time pondering on it. We had a good week of training and tweaked our mistakes and I think we are ready for another performance."
