Leinster may have made it 14 wins from 14 this season but back-row Caelan Doris feels there is still much room for improvement if they want to cap it with silverware.
Leo Cullen's side dug deep to overcome Ospreys by five points in their BKT United Rugby Championship encounter on Saturday with late tries from Hugo Keenan and Jimmy O'Brien turning the game in Leinster's favour.
The comeback ensured that they remain unbeaten in all competitions so far this campaign, with their two victories in the Heineken Champions Cup over Gloucester and Racing 92 last December added to by a dozen wins on the trot in the URC.
But with the European campaign resuming over the next two weeks with reverse pool fixtures against Gloucester and Racing, Doris is adamant that Leinster will not get ahead of themselves despite their seemingly unstoppable momentum.
"In terms of the 12 wins, I think we've had some pretty good seasons like that in the past and haven't won anything at the end of the year," the Ireland international told RTÉ Sport, citing the breakdown as one key area to sharpen up on.
"The work is still to be done. It's great having the wins and getting results in a row but we just need to keep improving.
"We can put ourselves in a good position to win trophies at this time (of the season) but we can't actually do it so it's about keeping improving - and the results are important but improving is the main thing."
The 24-year-old added that being the team to beat is not unduly ramping up the pressure for the squad at large.
"It's also exciting and it's probably the position we want to be in terms of trying to perform each weekend and trying to win trophies. We didn't do that last year and there's still a lot of disappointment from that and the ambition is to do that this year and to do that you have to keep winning."
When Leinster faced Gloucester in their Champions Cup pool match at the RDS on 16 December, the Premiership side fielded a second string outfit and consequently were convincingly dispatched by a 57-0 scoreline.
Doris is expecting Leinster to face a far stiffer test this time against a Gloucester side closer to full strength.
"I think it's going to be a much tougher test this weekend both in terms of probably they'll field a stronger team we imagine and it's away from home, early kick-off," he said.
"Kingsholm is quite a hostile place to go from what I've heard and seen so it's going to be a different challenge altogether this week I think."
